    • The studio phone numbers is (646) 675-7255. Please understand that Teaching Artists are focused on working with young artists and often have messy hands! If you're a parent needing to contact the studio for a session your child is actively participating in, texting the studio phone is the most effective. If you'd like to ask any questions, emailing info@thepaintedcloud.com is the most efficient way! We are always happy to set up a time to connect on the phone. 

TIME

  • Doors open at 8:55am for a 9am start time -- Prior to this time, artists are setting up materials for camp so cannot answer the doorbell before then. If you arrive early, please feel free to wait outside. There is also some places on Broadway around the corner, such as Dunkin Donuts.

  • Doors open at 2:55pm for a 3pm start time.

  • Late fees apply for close of sessions. Refer to ‘Fees’ section below.

WHAT TO PACK

Semester Sessions

  • A light snack of apples, pretzels, & raisins is provided. Please consider sending your child with a nut-free snack of their own!

  • Studio + Weather-appropriate clothes

  • For our younger students: Please pack an extra pair of underwear and pants.

Day Camps (Fall/Winter/Spring)

  • Morning Snack ***Nut-free!

  • Afternoon Snack for Extended Stay ***Nut-free! (3pm - 5:30)

  • Water bottle

DRESS

  • While we do provide smocks, art projects can be messy!  Some materials we use (i.e. fabric paints) do not wash out of clothing. Please dress your child in clothes that are okay to get stained.

  • Weather permitting, we will go on the back deck and to the playground at Rodney & South 4th St. - just 2 blocks away.

  • Kids being picked up for AFTER SCHOOL should wear weather appropriate clothing for our walk and/or wait at the bus stop.

  • SUMMER CAMP ONLY:

    • Weather permitting, we will go to the playground and sprinklers at Rodney & South 4th St. - just 2 blocks away.

    • Children are not permitted to go barefoot in the sprinklers.

    • You are welcome to leave your child's bathing suit, sunscreen, water shoes, and towel in a cubby at the studio for the week. Please bring items in a bag, labeled with your child’s name.

PAYMENT & REFUNDS

Semester Sessions

  • Joining one of our classes requires a full commitment to the session. Please understand that you are responsible for the total class amount per semester.

  • A $200 deposit is required per child, per class to secure your child’s spot in the class. The deposit is non-refundable, and will be put toward the final balance. The remaining tuition cost is fully refundable up to one week prior to start date.

  • We offer a payment plan option of four payments per semester. Each payment is due on the first of the month. You can pay online via credit or debit card. You may pay with cash or check. Please make checks payable to ‘The Painted Cloud’.

  • If you miss the registration period, please email info@thepaintedcloud.com for availability. The classes that require semester-long commitment are designed to build knowledge over the course of the semester. Therefore, we accommodate late registration on a case-by-case basis.

  • A

  • We offer up to 2 free makeups for any absences. Makeups can be done during any of our weekend workshops. Inquire about workshops!

  • Registration will remain open until a camp is full.  

Summer Camp

  • A 50% deposit is required per child, per camp week. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable, but will be put toward the final balance.

  • The full balance must be paid two weeks prior to start date.

  • 50% of camp cost is fully refundable up to one week prior to start date.

  • A child's place in camp will not be reserved until the deposit is paid.

  • Registration will remain open until a camp is full.  

FEES

  • There will be a $40 fee for all returned checks.

  • There will be a LATE FEE when picking up children more than 15 minutes past the end of sessions. This fee goes directly to the teaching artist who is required to stay late. This is not an after care option.

    • For sessions ending at 12:00 pm, fee starts at $20 at 12:15pm. Each additional half hour will be charged a flat cost of $20 (e.g. 12:16-12:45 = $40, 12:46-1:15 = $60).
    • For sessions ending at 3:00 pm, fee starts at $20 at 3:15pm. Each additional half hour will be charged a flat cost of $20 (e.g. 3:16-3:45 = $40, 3:46-4:15 = $60).
    • For sessions ending at 5:30 pm, fee starts at $20 at 5:46pm. Each additional half hour will be charged a flat cost of $20 (e.g. 5:46-6:15 = $40, 6:16-6:45 = $60).
    • For sessions ending at 6:00 pm, fee starts at $20 at 6:16pm. Each additional half hour will be charged a flat cost of $20 (e.g. 6:16-6:45 = $40, 6:46-7:15 = $60).
  • All fees will be handled by the office, not by the teaching artists. In the event that you incur fees, our office will email you, and the credit card on file will be charged.

  • Any outstanding invoices that are not paid within 30 days of receipt will be subject to a 15% interest charge.

HOLIDAYS/ SCHOOL CLOSINGS

Please note that we follow the New York City public school calendar for holidays and emergency weather closings.

AFTER SCHOOL PICK-UP

Teaching artists transport students from their respective schools to The Painted Cloud. The parent coordinators of each school have The Painted Cloud's phone number and the teaching artists' contact information on file. Please contact info@thepaintedcloud.com with any questions.

SAFETY

  • The Painted Cloud is a nut-free space.

  • Children must be kept home to rest when they present any of the following symptoms:

    • Fever: 100°F or higher (a child needs to be fever free - without the aid of Tylenol or other fever reducers for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to The Painted Cloud).

    • Diarrhea.

    • Vomiting: 2 or more times in a 24 hour period. Please do not bring your child if they have vomited in the night.

    • Breathing trouble, sore throat, swollen glands, loss of voice, hacking or continuous coughing.

    • Frequent scratching of body or scalp, lice, rash, etc.

    • Child is irritable, continuously crying, or requires more attention than we can provide without hurting the health, safety or well-being of the other children in our care.
